More About Crystal

Crystal Hawk, TTNO co-founder, teacher, mentor, friend, passed away May 2, 2023. Crystal was innovative, creative, wise and thoughtful. She touched people throughout the world with her teaching and kindness. Recently, she was awarded the international award for her contributions to teaching Therapeutic Touch and EFT throughout the world by both the Therapeutic Touch international Association, and the International Society for the Study of Subtle Energies and Energy Medicine.

Her ability as a group facilitator was amazing. Crystal taught through storytelling, leaving her students with vivid images that made her words come alive; so learning was fun and made a lasting impression. She was a trailblazer in so many ways. She co-founded the first Therapeutic Touch network in the world, along with Mary Simpson, opening up Therapeutic Touch to lay people.

Crystal was also an active member of the Therapeutic Touch International Association. She was awarded an Honorary Life Membership in The Nurse Healers-Professional Associates International, Inc. (USA) and is a recipient of TTIA’s Founders Award. She served as TTIA’s Research Chair for four years and was recognized as a Qualified Teacher of the American TT organization.

Crystal taught EFT and TT at Gilda’s Club Greater Toronto for 20 years and developed and taught Therapeutic Touch for Self-Care. This class was later turned into the accessible, easy to follow book, co-authored with Alison Cooke, Be Your Own Healer: Self-Care with Therapeutic Touch. This wonderful book, now in its fourth printing, and sold on this website, will continue to open up the world to Therapeutic Touch, long after Crystal is gone.

Crystal had no fear of technology. During Covid, when in-person teaching was no longer possible, she embraced Zoom and continued seeing clients and teaching classes up until October of 2022. She has been a model for us all, encouraging us to live life to the fullest, empowering us to take care of ourselves, to never stop learning and to be fearless as we go forward in life.

Her legacy continues with our book Be Your Own Healer: Self-Care with Therapeutic Touch and her program Managing Your Migraine: Pain Control. Her program is still available – go to the ordering section of our website. The proceeds from this will be forwarded to Gildas Club Greater Toronto to support their work with all those impacted by cancer.

Just before she died Crystal asked to hear the song “Listen, listen, listen to my heart song, I will never forget you, I will never forsake you.” And so it is – we’ll never forget her.
